Moving across the country

Quick snapshots from our trip across the country.
We're busy with the moving and unpacking process but I thought I should post something to keep updated. We moved back to oklahoma from California. We found a spot to put the house and while it might not be our dream location, it's pretty nice. Basically we had a family member with an empty house they needed to fix up and loved the idea of us being there I keep an eye on the place.

The moving of the house was done by a pro we found on uship. His name is Davy Crocker and it couldn't have been easier. His price was fair and only about 400 bucks more than what it would have cost me in gas and truck rental. Plus he had a half million dollars in insurance and I didn't have to worry about anything. On top of everything he even helped move some branches when we got there. We met up along the way and had open communication at all times. He's moved 4 tiny houses so he knows what they take. If you need to move a tiny house, here's his contact info. Tell him Joe sent you:

  1. Do you plan on teaching any workshops while in Oklahoma?

    1. I think I would! We'd need to get a few people together but I could even pull in some other tiny house people for a good weekend. Keep in touch.

  2. How well did the SIPs survive the journey? I was going to build my house with them, but I was concenred about the joins making it through the movement of a long drive.

  3. Whoops, sorry didn't read the rest. I didn't see you moved before you put the SIPs in. But would that be a concern?

    1. Hey there, Sorry if it's confusing but the SIPS were the one of the first things I put in. They are the entire structure of the house. I did in fact move with the sips put up and it was great. No problems and the guy towing them said it felt very stable. No movement or shifting at all. Completely solid and secure. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  4. I want something like that. A moving house. This is interesting on how Davy Crocker helped you with an affordable price. For reference, we at A & L Pty Ltd removal services offers affordable services as well.

  5. Love the blog, thanks for sharing. My son and I plan on creating a mobile house of ROCK. A cool house on wheels with a music studio inside for recording, practicing, teaching lessons etc. A roof top stage and dance floor with a mobile multi track recording studio and multiple camera set up for getting great edited video of any performance as well.
Also intend on having a screen print press and small flash drier to do live printing of shirts, posters, patches etc for all of the intimate performances that take place.

  7. Hello :)

Thanks for sharing your tiny life, your story is really inspiring! I am a Corporate and Public Communications graduate student at Monmouth University interested in studying the sense of community inspired by Tiny House Communities (THC). For my graduate thesis I am looking at how people communicate about tiny houses, what the community does for them, and why they choose to get involved with the movement.

If you or anyone you know who is a part of or who is interested in tiny houses could spare 15 minutes to complete my survey, I would really appreciate it! Thank you for all you do for the THC

You can find the survey at: https:/

    All the best,

  8. Some of our furniture is stored at family members who had a little room to spare for us,

  9. I really enjoyed your article. Would be lovely if you posted more frequently. Personally, I recently joined the Tiny House Movement and am enjoying every bit of it.

If fact, my love is so great that i personally built a picture site dedicated to the tiny house movement. You can share all your Tiny house living pics from your building process to plans used, for the benefit of others just joining our movement
